Dr. Barnard grew up in Kendallville, Indiana where he spent most of his childhood showing Reining horses and watching his Dad care for animals at his parents’ veterinarian clinic. Originally, thinking he wanted to follow in his Dad’s footsteps as a veterinarian, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Purdue University before deciding to pursue a career in Dentistry. Dr. Barnard then went on to earn his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from Indiana University School of Dentistry.
Following graduation, he completed an intensive 12-month Hospital General Practice Residency, aimed at treating medically compromised patients in Dayton, Ohio. During the residency, he became certified in IV Sedation.
Following his residency, he moved to South Carolina where he practiced IV Sedation dentistry for six years before moving back to Indiana with his wife, Angela and their two cats. Dr. Barnard is also known as an avid traveler and hiker. He loves photography, spending time outdoors and being in the water. Some of his proudest moments include completing a thru-hike of the entire Appalachian Trail, roughly 2200 miles from Georgia to Maine and winning the American Quarter Horse Youth Association Reining World Championship as a teen.
Dr. Barnard highly values continuous growth and providing quality services. He has spent hundreds of hours attending seminars and courses all over the country and continues to invest in courses to learn the latest and best practices in dentistry and dental surgery. He is a Fellow in the International Congress of Oral Implantology and is currently working towards his associate fellowship in the American Academy of Implantology.
