All-ceramic crowns are a more aesthetically pleasing option, as they are made entirely of porcelain and can be color matched to the patient’s natural teeth. Finally, gold crowns are made from a gold alloy and are extremely durable and long lasting.

Dental Crown Procedure

Dental crowns are a popular restorative dentistry procedure that can be used to strengthen, protect, and improve the appearance of a damaged or decayed tooth. Dr. Barnard at Implant & Cosmetic Dentistry of Northern Indiana can provide a custom-made dental crown to restore the natural structure of your tooth and improve the look and feel of your smile.

The dental crown procedure begins with a thorough examination of the affected tooth to determine if a crown is the best option. Dr. Barnard will then prepare the tooth by removing any decay and shaping it for the crown. An impression of the tooth is taken and used to create a unique crown that is designed to fit comfortably and blend in with your existing teeth. The crown is then bonded to the tooth and adjusted for a natural look and feel. With proper care and maintenance, your dental crown can last for many years.

Aftercare for Dental Crowns

Having a dental crown placed is an important step in restoring your smile and protecting your tooth. To ensure the longevity of your dental crown, it is important to practice proper aftercare. After a dental crown procedure, you should avoid eating hard or sticky foods for the first 24 hours. It is also important to brush and floss regularly to keep your gums and teeth healthy.

When brushing, use a soft-bristled brush and be gentle around the crown to avoid damage. If your crown becomes loose or falls out, contact your dentist immediately. With proper aftercare, your dental crown can last for many years.

Went in for a broken wisdom tooth after x-rays and a couple of Pokes on the gums doctor came in and wanted to pull all of my wisdom teeth I simply asked for the broken tooth to be pulled, I initially scheduled the appointment then canceled after thinking about how I was railroad into all this extra work and cost and finding out that they maxed out my dental insurance and sent me a bill (they did absolutely nothing on my visit) but yet I still have the broken wisdom tooth and now can't get it pulled untill next year after insurance roll over unless i pay out-of-pocket because they max out my yearly plan.
